What Leaders Were Carrying
Shane’s work drew from 26 interviews. Three connected themes gave the room a starting point for prayer and conversation.
Scarcity can turn co-laborers into competitors
Leaders described the fear of losing people, funding, or recognition—even when that fear remains unspoken.
People do not always know who else is serving
Sometimes the barrier is not distrust. A leader may not know whom to ask, may not know that another ministry exists, or may not think to ask.
Trust requires time and relationship
Trust is not merely an attitude. It grows through time, effort, shared work, and relationships strong enough to carry honest conversation.
Participants prayed and ate together, considering how stronger relationships might help the Church work together. No interview or leader represented the whole city; the findings served as a shared starting point for listening and discernment.
